noun
Temporomandibular joint disorders are problems that affect the joint located between the lower jaw and base of the skull. Although TMJ dysfunction is not deemed to be a serious medical problem, it can have a major impact on people’s quality of life. A TMJ disorder can cause difficulty opening the mouth, pain in the front ear, and muscle spasms around the jaw.
