Sciatica

sci·at·i·ca

\sī-ˈa-ti-kə\

noun

A common type of pain caused by the irritation or compression of the sciatic nerve. The sciatic nerve is the longest in the body and begins in the pelvic region before going down through the buttocks, the legs, and all the way to the foot. One of the main causes of sciatica is a slipped disc in the back, though occasionally no source of the pain can be found.
